Job Summary:
OHSU is seeking a qualified Trauma Medical Director and Acute Care Surgeon for our prestigious Level 1 Trauma Center, the only one of its kind in Oregon. Located in Portland, our center services over 4,000 trauma patients annually and is dedicated to excellence in patient care, education, research, and community service. The Trauma Center collaborates with the Donald D. Trunkey Center for Civilian and Combat Casualty Care for advanced research in trauma care.
Open Positions:
Acute Care Surgeon:
This position aims to cultivate early-career surgeons focused on clinical practice and research in Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgery. Ideal candidates will demonstrate the potential for developing independent federal research funding.
Trauma Medical Director:
This role is tailored for mid-career surgeons with leadership experience, either as Trauma Medical Director, Assistant TMD, or Surgical ICU Medical Director. The ideal candidate should possess strong emotional intelligence to lead our trauma center in enhancing research, quality improvement, and fostering collaborations across the state.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide clinical service in Trauma & Acute Care Surgical Services, and Surgical Critical Care Service.
Engage in divisional, departmental, and hospital committee responsibilities.
Participate in teaching obligations for Medical School, General Surgery Residency, Surgical Critical Fellowship, and TACS Advanced Practice Providers.
Lead initiatives in research and quality improvement in trauma care.
Foster collaborative relationships with healthcare providers and organizations across the state.
Qualifications:
Board certified/eligible in General Surgery.
Eligibility for the Certificate of Added Qualifications in Surgical Critical Care.
Eligible for licensure in the State of Oregon.
Demonstrated leadership experience (for Trauma Medical Director position).

Requirements
Candidates must be board certified/eligible in general surgery and be able to sit for the certificate of added qualifications in surgical critical care. Candidates must also be eligible for licensure in the State of Oregon.
