Corewell Health is pleased to inform you of a national search for a results-oriented candidate to serve as the clinical and academic surgical leader for the system’s largest hospital, the Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital (WBUH). The incoming leader will serve as Chief of the Department of Surgery at WBUH and Chair of the Department of Surgery at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine (OUWB). This is a transformative opportunity to lead in the establishment and implementation of the vision and strategic plan that will guide Corewell surgery into the future.
Corewell Health is seeking leaders with the following attributes: accomplished in clinical care pathways; expertise in quality and patient safety; strong passion for medical student and resident education; high emotional intelligence with proven relationship development skills; strong financial and business development acumen; entrepreneurial skills and instincts; strong passion for community engagement and comfortable in a highly matrixed environment. Candidates must hold a D.O. or M.D. degree and be either AOA or ABMS Board Certified in a surgical discipline and must be eligible for permanent, unrestricted licensure in the state of Michigan. Applicants must possess academic accomplishments that would qualify them for appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level at OUWB.

- Lead a clinically and academically talented surgical department partnered with a growing, outstanding health system.
- Serve as Chair of Surgery at OUWB and academic leader of highly-ranked Corewell surgical residency and fellowship training programs.
- Partner with a robust collaborative of Corewell Health surgeons to develop a dynamic surgical specialty network across the eight hospital Corewell East division.
- Coordinate and expand surgical services at WBUH where surgeons now perform over 43,000 outpatient and inpatient operative cases per year covering a comprehensive range of specialty and subspecialty procedures.
- Build the foundation for network health outcomes and clinical trials programs.
