OPHTHALMIC SURGICAL ASSISTANT

Full-Time | Day Shift | Monday-Friday | No Nights | No Weekends | No Call

We are seeking a motivated Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or greater looking to advance their career and become an Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant. Responsibilities

•         Assist with the preparation and flow of ophthalmic surgical cases
•         Prepare operating rooms and procedure areas for surgery
•         Assist with patient positioning and preparation
•         Assist the surgical team during cataract and other ophthalmic procedures
•         Maintain sterile technique and follow infection-prevention practices
•         Assist with room turnover and preparation between cases
•         Clean and prepare surgical equipment and instrumentation
•         Assist with instrument processing and sterilization as needed
•         Maintain appropriate supply levels and help identify needed inventory
•         Follow all ASC policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements

Requirements

Qualifications

•         Must be certified at a core level (COA, COT, or COMT)
•         Certification as an Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant preferred or be willing to obtain certification after on the job training
•         Previous ophthalmology/ophthalmic surgical experience preferred
•         Experience in an ambulatory surgery center or operating room preferred
•         Knowledge of ophthalmic surgical procedures, equipment, and terminology
•         Understanding of sterile technique and infection-control practices
•         Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume surgical environment
•         Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
•         Dependable, professional, and team-oriented
•         Excellent communication and patient-care skills
