- PGY 2 Preliminary Surgery Resident
Description
St. Joseph’s University Medical Center, Paterson NJ, is seeking to fill a Preliminary PGY-2 General Surgery resident position starting July 1, 2026. To be eligible for this position, the applicant must have completed a PGY 1, position in an ACGME accredited General Surgery program in good standing.
Requirements
All applicants must submit the following documents VIA EMAIL ONLY, “no faxes or phone calls”.

1. Current CV
2. Personal Statement
3. USMLE 1 passed on first attempt, Step 2 minimum score 250, Step 3 if applicable
4. ABSITE Scores minimum 50% correct
5. Medical School Diploma and Transcript
6. Summative competency based performance and Milestone evaluation
7. ACGME Operative Case Log (Defined Category Report)
8. Three letters of recommendation (including a letter of support from the current Program Director)
9. Authorized to work in the US, no visa required, no exceptions
