We are seeking a fellowship-trained Surgical Retina Specialist to join our growing retina team and help support the continued expansion of our retina services, including our newly developed Retina Center in Hickory, North Carolina. Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of retinal diseases and disorders, including:
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Age-related macular degeneration
- Retinal detachments
- Macular holes and epiretinal membranes
- Retinal vascular diseases
- Uveitic and inflammatory retinal conditions
- Perform advanced vitreoretinal surgical procedures, including:
- Pars plana vitrectomy
- Retinal detachment repair
- Membrane peels
- Macular surgery
- Secondary intraocular lens procedures, as applicable
- Provide comprehensive medical retina care, including:
- Intravitreal injections
- Retinal laser procedures
- Fluorescein angiography interpretation
- OCT and retinal imaging interpretation
- Collaborate closely with comprehensive ophthalmologists, optometrists, and subspecialists to provide coordinated patient care
- Participate in outreach, education, and relationship-building initiatives with referring providers
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Contribute to a culture centered around clinical excellence, patient experience, and teamwork
Requirements
Qualifications:
- MD or DO degree from an accredited institution
- Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology Residency Program
- Fellowship training in Vitreoretinal Surgery/Medical Retina
- ABO Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology
- Eligible for unrestricted North Carolina medical licensure
- Strong surgical skills and commitment to evidence-based patient care
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Interest in collaboration, practice growth, and long-term partnership
